Confidence: Go Confidently in the Direction of Your Dreams!

Sun on Waves          “Go confidently in the direction of your dreams.  Live the life you have imagined."      - Henry David Thoreau

A new day has dawned!  Barack Obama is officially our new president-elect of the United States of America; not the red states, or the blue states as he said, but the UNITED States of America.

Barack has inspired me not only on this broad level of achieving the highest political office in this land, but well before this time. I have had the grace to witness his journey first hand.  As I awoke this morning to yet another brilliant, November sunrise here in Chicago, I went back and reflected on a journal entry of mine dated September 26, 2006.

For a couple of months before then, my intuition began making it loud and clear to me that it was time for me to leave the shore and sail in the direction of my dream, my purpose, and my mission for this life.  In this journal entry, I wrote how a story that I read that day about the Obamas, had given me the courage to step out of my comfort zone, and make the decision to sell my practice and the inspiration was specific enough to point to June 2007 as the time it would transpire.

It actually occurred June 14, 2007, right on time, in such a remarkable way that my story was published last month in John Assaraf’s new book on the visioning process.  I did not know how, I just knew that I was being guided and it was the right thing for me to do.

You see, I have an understanding that your altitude in life is determined by the quality of your belief and the perception of your own self-image relative to the Universe.  I know Barack personally through my husband and over the years I’ve watch him and his wife Michelle, make personal sacrifice for what they believed in.

From the moment I met him, I knew that he was destined for great things.  The key here though, is that he stepped up to the plate to realize that destiny. When I first met him, the greatness I saw was on a Spiritual level, an intuitive level.  It was not based on outward appearance as much initially, as I can see in hindsight how we was evolving as a person.

He struck me as highly intelligent, but it takes more than this to ascend to the level that he has achieved. We all are unique and special in our own way.  What I saw in him was INTEGRITY and a healthy sense of self-esteem.  And I witnessed that confidence grow and it confirms for me the power of humility in understanding that the Universe, for me God, has great things in store for those who dare to act on their guidance with integrity.

It was this inner knowing that gave him the courage to go for the life he had imagined, the vision that he had been given.  The power within him made the way.  I know for a fact, that none of us during those years saw this coming on this level.  The how to accomplish even the U.S. Senate seat looked impossible; who could have known, we were looking at our next president!

I remember when he was struggling to raise money for the Senate race in 2003.  Now, only five years later, he is not only in the White House, but his campaign raised a record amount of abundant finances contributed by many people who before now, were the silent majority.

After I read that article in September 2006, I made up my mind because of the inspiration of the Obama’s story that I saw unfold right before my eyes.  In doing so, doors opened for me that I did not see how they could at the time as well.  Now, because of his accomplishments, I am once again inspired to continue to go confidently in the direction of my dreams and live the life of my Vision.

Thoreau’s words inspired me many years ago.  The lesson I have learned from Barack is, when you let your life shine, you have an impact that resonates throughout humankind.  We all have a light that needs to shine, to be set free.  We can only share and experience this light in its fullest magnitude, when we look within ourselves so that we can see the Light of Life.  God has truly blessed America!
